Our Philosophy

History

StartFund’s method and processes are a direct result of the years of experience  since the founding of the initial organization. Back in1996 the CIE Fund (Care for the In-vironment and En-vironment), was set up as an auspice of the Fred Foundation. With the aim to stimulate self-reliance and co-finance inspiring projects in the fields of both health care (for which the term “in-vironment” was used) and the environment, the Fund was as an expression of the founders body of thought. Though changing its name in 2007 to StartFund, the objective and philosophy underlying the organization remained. With the founding of StartFund Foundation as its own legal entity in 2012, the organization also modified its structure and method to further enhance its impact on the local communities.

Philosophy

These changes were carried through in pursue of StartFund’s vision. This vision has been a driving force of the organization since 1996. It is based on the observation that the chaos in the world is a reflection of the chaos in people’s  minds and hearts.

Our concern is that all over the world people often make decisions primarily based on rationale, so often not involving our hearts. This, as we all can see,  has quite devastating consequences on our behaviour, our interactions and the environment. Because our consciousness and actions reflect one another, StartFund believes that to ultimately transform the way we live as human beings, we need to work on understanding ourselves and develop our consciousness on different levels. This will put us in a better position to help not only ourselves but also others and recognize the importance of a sustainable relation with the environment.

StartFund therefore seeks to support the sustainable empowerment of people through stimulating the use of mind and heart, as two separate but equal sources of inspiration and information in our decision making processes and interactions. Through sustainable economic initiatives that support people in their needs for basic living conditions, StartFund aims to creates space for consciousness development. In this way, StartFund desire to meet two requirements that give meaning and pleasure to life.
